The Tavish & Loch Story
When my mother was a teenager, she was a competitive highland dancer. I remember being young and kneeling at the edge of her ancient steamer trunk as the hinges creaked open, feeling the scratch of wool as she showed us her kilt. When my sister was old enough, she joined the ranks of highland dancers as well, and many summer afternoons we rolled into small towns across the Pacific Northwest, following the sound of the pipes of the weekend's highland games. Flying home from my first visit to Scotland in 2006, my suitcase was packed with tartan scarves and wool throws; bright pieces of a tradition that felt so familiar and so beautiful.
In 2008, I opened my first stationery design business, and since then have received many requests for custom tartan wedding invitations. Tavish & Loch sprang from the idea of pairing simple, classic design with the familial tradition and timeless elegance of Scottish tartans.
I'm a wife, mother, and artist living in the American mountain west. I love bright colors, pattern, folk art, and cups of chamomile tea on rainy afternoons.
